Lenore Whitaker Looney, 92, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at her son's home in Bolivar, TN. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 26 at the Forest Hill Church of Christ in Memphis, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Looney was born June 9, 1921 to the late E. L. and Esther Whitaker. In May of 1940 she was married to Edgar H. Looney, who preceded her in death November 22, 1963. A long-time resident of Memphis, she was a member of the Forest Hill Church of Christ and taught Bible School Teacher Training Classes all over the United States and in several foreign countries. She worked many years as Executive Secretary for Lincoln National Life Insurance Company in Memphis, retiring in 1985. Survivors include her daughters, Sherrill Wade of Foreman, AR and Esther Steele of Memphis; son, David B. Looney (Kay) of Bolivar; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Kay Cooper, Angela Mayberry and Catina Moore. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Myra Martin; brother, E. L. Whitaker, Jr.; son-in-law, Frank Wade; and grandchildren, Roxanne and Rodney Wade.
