Myra I. Maybee, 65, of Eads, former surgery director for the Regional Medical Center at Memphis and supervisor of surgery for Memphis Veterans Medical Center, died Tuesday at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Bethany Christian Church Cemetery in Eads. She was a graduate of Baptist School of Nursing and Union University and a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and Kirby Woods Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Maybee, the wife of Lowell Phillip Maybee for 42 years, also leaves a son, Andrew Maybee of Collierville; her mother, Opal Whitaker of Cordova; two brothers, Cecil Whitaker of Hollywood, Fla., and Larry Whitaker of Clinton, Miss., and two grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Baptist Trinity Hospice Center for Good Grief or West Clinic Wings. (Published in The Commercial Appeal on December 9, 2004)
