Services for Mrs. Claudia Harrell Whitaker of 6217 Island 40 Road, widow of Memphis Fire Department Capt. William Ben Whitaker, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Memphis Funeral Home on Union with burial in Memorial Park. Mrs. Whitaker, who was 80, died at 4:25 p.m. Friday after a long illness. She was a charter member of Frayser Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She leaves a daughter, Ilva "Sing" Taylor (Mrs. Daniel M. Taylor) of the Island 40 address; two sons, Joe Whitaker of 2750 Lakecrest and Ben Whitaker of 6223 Island 40 Road; two granddaughters and a great-grandson. Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Whitaker will be honored tomorrow at an open house at the home of their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Joe W. Whitaker 2750 Lakecrest Circle, Frayser. The party will be from 2 to 5 in the afternoon for friends and relatives. Invitations are being sent only to out-of-town friends. Mr. Whitaker and Miss Claudia Harrell were married Feb. 14, 1911, in the Cumberland Presbyterian Manse, Bolton community, by the late Rev. C.A. Davis. Both were reared in the Bolton community. The couple have two other children, Mrs. Daniel Taylor of 6217 Island Forty Road and Ben Whitaker of 6233 Island Forty Road. They have two grandchildren, Miss Dottie Whitaker and Carole Jean Whitaker. Mr. Whitaker retired from the Memphis Fire Department as a captain. HARRELL-WHITAKER. On Tuesday evening at the Cumberland Presbyterian manse in Bolton, Tenn., a beautiful marriage was celebrated uniting Miss Claude Harrell and Benj. W. Whitaker, the Rev. C.A. Davis officiating. The bride was attended by Misses Hulda Whitaker, sister of the bridegroom, Mollie Harrell, sister of the bride, and Willie Smith. The groom was attended by N.C. Carruthers and J. B. Herring. The bride was beautifully attired in a white silk trimmed in lace. Mr. Whitaker is a prosperous young farmer of the Pleasant Union community, and his bride is a sister of Mrs. D.H. King of Bolton. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal party left for the home of Mr. Whitaker's mother, where a reception was given in their honor.
