Hazel Whitaker Atwell BLUFF CITY, Tenn. Hazel Whitaker Atwell, age 84, formerly of Bristol,Tenn., passed away Sunday July 10, 2011, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Blountville Tenn. to the late David and Mary Goodman Whitaker. Mrs. Atwell was a retired employee of The Kingsport Press in 1988, a member of Walnut Hill Presbyterian Church Bristol, Tenn. where she taught Sunday school and evening class for pre teens and teens for many years influencing many lives. She was a 1955 graduate of Moody Bible Institute. She also attended and taught at Graham Bible College and loved to travel which included mission trips. Mrs. Atwell was an organic gardner who loved to raise orchids. She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Atwell; four brothers, Carl, Ralph, Merlin and Powell Whitaker; and four sisters, Lelah Poole, Iva Whitaker , Addie Whitaker and Frances Galloway. Survivors include 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
