Lucille White Merriweather, 90, of 1401 Gill, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Hospital after a short illness. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at East Trigg Missionary Baptist Church with burial in New Park Cemetery. M. J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. She was a member of the Mother's Board, director of the Red Circle, former choir member and secretary of the Women's Missionary Union at East Trigg Missionary Baptist Church. She was vice president-at-large of the women's department of the Shelby County District Association. She was a worthy counselor of the Court of Calanthe and queen mother of the Knights and Daughters of Tabor.
The widow of Lewis Merriweather, she leaves nine daughters, Mrs. Alicia Glenn and Ms. Cassan dra Merriweather, both of Columbus, Miss., Ms. Shirley Wright of Detroit, Mrs. Betty Blake, Ms. Venecia Merriweather, Ms. Gloria Merriweather, Mrs. Elayne B. Allen, Mrs. Rita Bankhead and Ms. Sandra Brooks, all of Memphis; six sons, Daniel 'Butch' Merriweather, Donald R. Merriweather, Andrew Brooks and Quentin Brooks, all of Memphis, Donald L. Merriweather of Cincinnati and Christopher Merriweather of Columbus, Miss.; five sisters, Ms. Rosie L. Reed and Ms. Janie B. Reed, both of St. Louis, Mrs. Alberta White of Memphis, Ms. Alice Washington of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Alberta Howard of Cleveland, Ohio, 15 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
