The funeral of Mrs. Joe Elsberry whose death was mentioned in last week's paper, occurred Friday afternoon from the home. Interment was made in the West Lawn Cemetery. Asia Pansy Williams was born June 25, 1869 and passed away April 4, 1916.
On February 19, 1885 she was united in marriage to Joseph Elsberry. To this union eight children were born; four children preceded her in death: Benjamin Oscar, Joseph Lamonte, Mary Elizabeth and Edna Mae. Those living and who were present during her sickness are Mrs. Fern Lumsden, Letha Bernice, Scott Donald, and Margaret Marie.
Mrs. Elsberry was a member of the Christian church having become a Christian about 30 years ago and her faith has never waivered in her Lord and Master. She was a firm believer in the restoration of new testament Christianity. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters and the Rebekah lodge, in which she was held in high esteem.
To know Mrs. Elsberry was to add a new link in the chain of friendship and in her passing away the husband loses a devoted companion, the son and daughters, a loving mother, her neighbors and acquaintances a true friend, and the city of Lehigh a good citizen.
During her brief illness and until the untimely end and all that loving hearts and willing hands could do was done to lessen her suffering but to no avail and she passed away about midnight April 4th. The shock is great and leaves hearts torn and bleeding, which only time and nature can heal and calm. The sincere sympathy of all the entire community goes out unmeasured to the bereaved husband and children.
Besides her immediate family, she leaves a father, George P. Williams, three brothers, Gilbert Williams of Eagle Grove; George Williams of Adel; and James Williams of Boone; and six grandchildren besides a host of near relatives and friends who will really miss her from their presence.
