Raelene Murken, 74, of Fort Dodge, died February 23, 2007 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating. Interment will be held in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Raelene Williams, the daughter of Ray and Christie (Spangler) Williams, was born on December 31, 1932 in Rolfe, Iowa. As a small child, she moved with her family to Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School. In 1951, she was united in marriage to John Merle Nordstrom. The couple lived for a time in Alexandria, LA while Merle served in the US Air Force. After his service they moved back to Fort Dodge in 1955 and built their own home. Raelene was employed at Gus Glaser Meats and later worked for the Fort Dodge Labs, retiring in 1987. Her husband Merle preceded her in death in 1984. In April of 1986, Raelene married Rich Murken.
Raelene had a giving heart, always helping others, even strangers. She enjoyed baking, cooking and cleaning. She had a love for children and animals. Raelene was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband Rich Murken; her son Kevin Nordstrom of Fort Dodge; her daughter Cathy Nordstrom of San Diego, CA; her step-children David (Carol) Murken of Des Moines, and Cindy (David) Wuebker of Sac City; step-grandchildren, Derek and Toni Jo Murken, and Jonathan, and Christopher Wuebker. She was preceded in death by her first husband J. Merle Nordstrom, her parents, and her brothers Sterling and Frank Williams.
