Lucille Raynor, 79, departed from this life Monday, July 28, 2008. She was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Vicksburg, Miss., to parents Tommy Williams and Lucille Williams.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Samuel Williams, Marion Williams, Ernestine Williams, Tommy Wilson, Ella Davis and also Jimme Smith, who was her nephew but he grew up in the same loving household. She will be greatly missed by her brother, Julious P. Williams and his wife, Julia Williams of Queens, N.Y.

She was married to the late Captain J. E. Raynor, Jr. She leaves behind her two children, daughter, Joyce Henry and husband Patrick of Frederick and son, Stanley Raynor; and grandson, Stanley Elijah Raynor Jr. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Pearl Williams; and her nieces Margaret Wigfall, Doris Smith; and nephews, Jermaine Smith and Jimmie Smith; as well as a host of many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She also leaves behind her dearest friend, WIlliam Luckett and his sons, Baron Williams and James Luckett.

She graduated from high school in Vicksburg, Miss., and later received her bachelor's degree from City College in New York, and continued her education at Colombia University.

She was a cherished member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Frederick, where she served on the Women's Choir and later a deaconess on the Deaconess Board. She also was a member of the Frederick County NAACP, Habitat for Humanity and the Frederick Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women. She had a long career of service dedicated to families and children. She worked for 27 years, as a licensed certified social worker for the City of New York, after her retirement she worked for three years as a Founder and Director of Family Dimensions in Queens, N.Y. She later worked an additional nine years, as a Circuit Court Investigator for Adoptions in Frederick, for the Frederick County Department of Social Services.

The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 899 Swallowtail Drive, Frederick. The viewing will be at 11 a.m. at the church followed by the wake at noon. The Rev. William H. Graham will officiate. The Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery
