Ruth A. Baker, 88, of Oblong died Sunday July 14, 2002 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois. Ruth was born August 2, 1913 in Crawford County, Illinois and was the daughter of Lucus Bert Wiman and Susannah (Payne) Wiman. In 1959, she married Lorenus Henry Baker, who died on May 5, 1966. Ruth worked as an operator for Coil Sales in Oblong and then in Marshall, Illinois. She was a member of the Bellair Church of Christ and Friendly Neighbors Club. Ruth loved being with her grandchildren and working with crafts.
Ruth is survived by three sons, three daughters, 24 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and one brother. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, one brother, Elza Wiman, one sister, Amber Henry, and two granddaughters, Mindy Flairty and Connie Elliott, preceded Ruth in death.
