Born June 16, 1924 in Dillon County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Kellum and Ella McKenzie Wright.

Mrs. Allen graduated from Dillon High School and attended business college in Columbia.

During her working years she was employed by State and Federal agencies with many years of service as executive secretary for the S.C. Children's Bureau.

She was a member of Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church.

A brother, Robert Kellum Wright Jr, predeceased her.
