OSCEOLA - Phyllis Bergh, 84, of Osceola, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at her daughter, Martha Lantz's, residence with her family at her bedside. Phyllis was born on October 14, 1928, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Harry and Esther (Bates) York. On October 3, 1963, Phyllis married William Howard Bergh in Copper Harbor, MI. William and Phyllis were married for 36 years. William passed away on March 28, 1999. Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Martha (Mark) Lantz of Osceola, IN, and Lois (Greg) Waldron of Copperville, MI; 6 grandchildren, Kara (Michael) Lantz Griffith, Jonathan Lantz, Scott (Jessica) Waldron, Alisha Waldron, Justin Waldron, Autumn Waldron; and 2 great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Ethan Waldron. Phyllis is also survived by a brother, Eugene (Lorine) York of Spring Arbor, MI; and a sister, Cora (Wayne) Reese of Tennessee. A brother, Leland "Doc" York, and a sister, Shirley Shafer, preceded Phyllis in death. Phyllis and her husband Howard were owners and operators of Bergh's Resort in Copper Harbor, Michigan, were she was the manager of the resort where they resided from 1963 until 2002. Phyllis was the 1st mate of Bergh Fishing Charter, were she would pilot the boat for fishing expeditions. Phyllis was also a counsoler's aide at Calumet High School in Calumet, MI. She previously worked at Detroit Edison Electric and Blackmore & Tubbs Furniture / Funeral Home. Phyllis was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Mishawaka, IN. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 6-8 pm at the First Baptist Church, 724 N Main St., Mishawaka, IN. Additional visitation will be held at Erickson & Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet, MI, on Friday, August 30, 2013. The funeral service to be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Calumet, MI.
