PIPESTONE — Services for Edna De Wilde, 89, of Edgerton, formerly of Ruthton, will be at 11 a.m. February 23, 2017, at American Reformed Church in Woodstock. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. today in Holland Cemetery, Holland.

EDNA ANN DE WILDE was born April 28, 1927 to Peter A. and Jennie (De Yong) Tinklenberg on the family farm in Battle Plain Township in Rock County, Minnesota. She was raised there and attended country school and completing eight grade at the Edgerton Christian School in Edgerton, Minnesota. She later received her GED in Pipestone, Minnesota. She worked at various jobs in the Edgerton area. Edna was united in marriage to Floyd De Wilde on February 27, 1947. They were blessed with four children and 58 years of marriage. The couple farmed and resided on the same farm north of Holland their entire married life. Edna retired from the Ruthton Public School District as head cook. Floyd preceded her in death on November 19, 2005. Edna continued to live on the farm until she entered the nursing home in December 2009. Edna died at the Hospice House in Pipestone, Minnesota at the age of 89 years, 9 months, 22 days.

Edna was a member of the American Reformed Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. Edna was a lifetime member of the Holland American Legion Auxiliary, the Cross Country Extension Club, and the Grandmother’s Club. Edna and Floyd did volunteer mission work for the ‘Justice for All’ organization for 12 years, and she was a volunteer for Hospice in Pipestone County. Edna enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and crocheting. She will also be remembered for her quick wit, which kept everyone on their toes.

Edna is lovingly remembered by her children, Earl (Sherry) De Wilde of Holland, MN, Elaine (Raymond) Hansen of Luverne, MN, Verlyn (Barb) De Wilde of Ruthton, MN, and Gloria (Loren) Kassel of Dawson, MN; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Haack, Leola (Cornie) Wolterstorff and Marlys (Jerry) Keen; and sisters-in-law, Lois Tinklenberg, Rena Tinklenberg and Shirley Tinklenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; one sister, Helen Van Hulzen; brothers, Albertus, Adrian, Harris, and Arnold; one son-in-law, Alan Van Veldhuizen; sister-in-law, Gertrude Tinklenberg; and brothers-in-law Herman Van Hulzen and Charles Haack.
