John Feszler [sic] who has been quite unwell for the past winter, died Monday morning at 9 o'clock of disease incided [sic] to his advanced age, aged 78 years, 8 months and 7 days.

He was borned [sic] at Schergheim [sic, recte Scherzheim], Germany, August 6, 1824, and grew to mansestate [sic] in his home town.

He first came to the United States in 1852, living here and later at Hagerstown, Maryland, as an employee of the university in that city.

In 1857, he returned to Germany whare [sic] he was married September 29, 1859, to Miss Katharina Weger, later he came with his family to the United States and located here where he has always made his home.

To this couple were born 13 children, of whom 6 are living, 5 sons and 1 daughter; Jacob A., Fred B., Henry, Herman, and Carrie, now Mrs. Fred Waffenschmidt.

Mr. Feszler was a man of many good qualities and all who enjoyed his acquaintance respected and loved him.

The funeral occured at St. Michael's church this afternoon and was largely attended. The burial was at Oakwood.

Note the difference between the spelling of the surname in the obituary and on the monument. Also note that the obituary states 5 sons were still living, yet only 4 were named.
