Anders Gustaf Johansson was born in Marka, Skaraborgs, Sweden on December 21, 1848. His parents were Johannes Petersson and Maria Johnsdotter. He married Lovisa Johansdotter about 1872, probably in Gokhem, Skaraborgs. They had four children born is Sweden, the first two in Gokhem, the second two in Ullene, Skaraborgs. In 1884, Anders left for America, leaving Lovisa and the children in Sweden. This was common with Scandanavian immigrants. Someone would come over first, to see if America looked like it would work out. Anders probably came directly to Minnesota. In March of 1886, the rest of the family emigrated to America, and they came to Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. In Minneapolis, Anders and Lovisa had four more children. They lived for many years at 2442-25th Avenue South. On August 20, 1920, Anders, who was now known as Andrew, died in his home on 25th Avenue. He had been suffering with cancer for some time. He was buried at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis.
