MICHAEL HARRISON MACDONALD

Michael H. MacDonald, age 54, of 1116 Windiate St., Manitowoc, died on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2010, at his residence after a battle with cancer. Michael was born on Nov. 16, 1955, at Wisconsin Rapids, a son of Eunice Troullier MacDonald and the late Harrison MacDonald. He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1974. Following high school, Michael attended college at UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh and was a member of the U.S. Air Force. On Aug. 11, 2006, Michael married Laura J. Kunesh in Manitowoc. Michael was self-employed as a disability rights advocate for Native American children with disabilities. He was awarded an Eagle Feather from the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, playing hockey, camping, snowmobiling and was a builder of great hockey furniture. Michael was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Two Rivers and honorary member of the Ant Hill Mob motorcycle club. Survivors include his wife: Laura MacDonald, Manitowoc; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Brent (Katie) MacDonald, Manitowoc, Chad MacDonald, Manitowoc; his mother: Eunice MacDonald, Manitowoc; one sister and brother-in-law: Michelle (Einar) Hanson, Red Wing, Minn.; one brother and sister-in-law: Mark (Parvine) MacDonald, Wheaton, Ill.; three stepsons and two daughters-in-law: Ross (Angela) Kersten, Cape Town, South Africa, Ryan (Missy) Kersten, Manitowoc, Jacob Kunesh, Manitowoc; one nephew: David; four nieces: Marit, Britta, Katelyn and Kristen. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Ashley MacDonald; and his father: Harrison MacDonald. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3234 Mishicot Road, Two Rivers. The Rev. David Hintz will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the MacDonald family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Michael's name. The family would like to extend their thanks to Holy Family Hospital and Hospice, Dr. Yetter, and the CTCA of Zion, Ill., for all the compassion shown to Michael.
