Edwin W. Malzahn, 57, of 812 Manitou St., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning at
Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, following an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John United Church of Christ.
The Rev. Paul Blaufuss will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Malzahn was born March 19, 1905, at Merrill, Wis., son of Fred and the late
Minnie Aschenbrenner Malzahn. He married the former Alberta Meyer at Waukegan
Sept. 13, 1927, and the couple settled for several years in California. Then
they moved to Manitowoc where he became a painting contractor, a vocation he
followed until his recent illness. He was a member of the Men’s Club of the
church, was vice president of the Painting, Decorating and Contracting Union of
America and past president of the Master Builders Assn. of Manitowoc.
Surviving are his wife; son, Robert, and daughter, Mrs. Curtis Seidl, of
Manitowoc; his father of Wausau; two brothers, Fred Jr. and Ralph, of Wausau;
sister, Mrs. Douglas Schaeffer, of Fullerton, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m.
Monday until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be moved to the church to
lie in state until the hour of service.
