Leo H. Massman, age 90, a resident of 2148 S. 17th Street, Manitowoc, died on
Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
The Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Camilus Janas, O.F.M.
on Saturday, January 2, 1999, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Leo was born on January 19, 1908, at Rockwood, Wis., son of the late Peter and
Margaret Meyer Massman. He married Alvina (Mickey) Zimmerman on April 15, 1944,
at Francis Creek. Mickey preceded him in death on April 3, 1954. On June 2,
1956, he married Junita Fritsch Sellen at Manitowoc. Junita preceded him in
death on March 14, 1989. He was a longtime employee of the Manitowoc Shipbuilding
Company from where he retired in 1972. Leo was a member of St. Andrew Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. He was a great outdoorsman and especially loved hunting and
fishing. He also loved to watch the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Al) Leu, rural Manitowoc; three grandchildren,
Bobbette (Jim) Timmeramnn, Wisconsin Rapids, Shawn (Sara) Leu, Newton, Amy Leu,
Manitowoc; and her special friend, John Bock; three great-grandchildren, Adam
and Evan Timmermann, Jacob Leu; a brother, Walter (Lizzie) Massman, Rockwood; a
sister-in-law, Catherine Massman, Manitowoc; also nieces, nephews, other relatives
and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, two
brothers, Rank and Paul, and a sister, Mabel Schnorr.
Friends may call at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Saturday, January 2, 1999,
from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home
assisted the Massman family with funeral arrangements.
