George A. Miller was born at Chatsworth, Illinois, on March 23, 1897, the son of German immigrants John Miller and Johanna Ziegerath. He was raised on the family farm near Chatsworth and as a young man served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He was married to Verna Barber at Chatsworth on October 22, 1924.

They continued to make their home at Chatsworth, where George operated a tire and battery shop for a time, was a Nash automobile dealer and also spent some time farming. He retired in 1973.

He died at a hospital in Fairbury, Illinois, on December 1, 1986. Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth. He was survived by his wife and his sister Florence (Shols). He was preceded in death by an infant daughter (1935), a brother and a sister.
