Information as posted at time of management transfer:

MOS: 0311 Rifleman

Sgt. Jose Moncayo was born in Santa Rosa, NM. He arrived in Vietnam 31 May 1968 and was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Sgt Moncayo died as a result of a gunshot wound to the body from rifle fire. The company was set in a night defensive position when enemy forces assaulted the Marines, about 4 kilometers west southwest of LZ Torch, and 16 kilometers south of Khe Sanh Airfield.
Mike Company was participating in Operation Scotland II. Sgt Moncayo was one of fifteen Marines that died during the assault by enemy forces.

Jose was single and served his country for 2 years. He was survived by his parents, Bornifacia Ferniza, of Morenci, AZ. and Juan R Mancayo,of Santa Rosa,NM.
