He was born in Ose, Bygland, Norway. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April, 1942 and served until November 1945. The last 2 years of service he was on a destroyer, the USS Barton. In 1974 he retired from Sorenson-Gross Construction Co. and in 1979.
