"STEWART, Elton J., Pine Valley. "
He is listed in the section "DIED OF DISEASE" - "PRIVATES"
Elton died on October 6, 1918 and the "Great War" ended on November 11, 1918.

The listing for those who died of disease far out-numbers those who were Killed In Action or Died From Wounds. Here is a tabulation of casualties as recorded in
"SOLDIERS OF THE GREAT WAR - MISSISSIPPI" pages 135 - 138:
DIED FROM DISEASE: 523
KILLED IN ACTION: 234
DIED FROM WOUNDS: 78
DIED FROM ACCIDENT: 32

So who are Elton's Parents? When was he born? These questions can be probably answered by a review of the 1900 and 1910 Federal Census of Yalobusha County, Beat 2.
In it we find George and Rose Stewart, who are buried in this cemetery. Listed with them is a son "Elna", born in March 1899 (1900 Census) and who is listed again as "Eltore" age 12, in the 1910 Census.
The 1910 Census listings are always difficult to read, no matter what the State so a lot of handwriting is open to interpretation. As for the 1900 Census it is very easy to read but with typical sloppy handwriting.
