Co-founder of the food services corporation SYSCO along with John F. Baugh and Harry Rosenthal in 1969. Sysco evolved from Irving's former business, Global Frozen Foods. After building his fortune, Irving became a philanthropist who donated over $300 Million to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Irving and his wife Florence donated his collection of Asian Art to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
