Alvin Leroy "Lee" Akins was born October 25, 1923 in Miller Grove, Texas to Albert Braxton Akins and Mattie Mae Burns. He stepped into heaven on July 16, 2010 to be with his Lord, and beloved wife, Dorathy Jean. Lee and Jean were married for sixty-four years, and were rarely apart. Jean was called home on February 11, 2010, and patiently waited for the love of her life to join her. Lee is survived by his son; Braxton Akins and wife Donna, daughters; Martha Akins Johnson, Liz Luse and her husband Greg, grandchildren; Lindsay Akins, Jared Akins, Lauren Akins, Alicia Johnson, Kathryn Luse and Jeffrey Luse. Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX. The celebration service of Lee's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 LaPrada Drive, Dallas, TX 75228. Rev. Tracy Dophied will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, in the Garden of Roses, Dallas, TX.
