Catherine worked at Continental Emsco from 1952 to 1956 but the demands of six children persuaded her to be a stay-at-home mom until she went to work in 1967 as a secretary for the City of Garland / Parks & Recreation Department. She retired from the City in 1991, after twenty-four years of service.
Upon moving to Garland, Catherine & Steve became Charter Members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. There she helped set up the first school library, helped coordinate fund raisers for school needs, one of which was an automobile for the Nuns to drive. Millions of donated TruValue Yellow Stamps filled Catherine's kitchen table, where she diligently had the "clan" licking & sticking stamps into books. Over time, enough stamp books were collected and a Station Wagon was bought and presented to the Nuns. She was also a member of the Alter Society. After retiring in 1991, Catherine became an avid bridge player, playing as often as a foursome could be found! When not playing bridge, she ran around with her Red Hatters' group having a grand time.
A loving, devout mother of six, Catherine will be missed dearly by all her 6 children: David Victor Andreason, Phyllis Katherine Jarvis, Cynthia Ann McCommas, Constance Jane Wackett, Madelyn Carol Jolly Link and Donald Carl Andreason; her 6 sons/daughters-in-law (lovingly known as the out-laws): Dee Chappell (hopefully to David), Paul Jarvis, Steve McCommas, Jeff Wackett, Karl Link, and Lori Andreason; her 17 grandchildren (& spouses): Richard Andreason (& Kim), Tara Andreason-Cloutman, Brandon Andreason (& Marni), Keri Andreason-Jones (& Scott), Neal Andreason (& Cheli); Oscar Jarvis (4-legged); Michael McCommas (& Stephanie), Clinton McCommas (& finance Kate), Amber McCommas; James Wackett, Joe Wackett, Morgan Wackett-Saxon; Brittany Jolly-Hamilton (& Corey), Courtney Jolly, Nicole Link; Tyler Andreason, Taylor Andreason; Hayden Andreason; her 11 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Alexandria, Emily, Will Andreason; Cayla, Lauren, Brady Cloutman; Jadie, Jentry Jones; Lillie McCommas; Hunter Hamilton (plus 3 soon-to-be).
Catherine is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Jean Miller of White Deer, Texas and nephews Phil and Rodney Miller and niece Teri Stewart.
She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Steve Andreason, her grandson, Christopher Jolly, and her brother William Miller.
After a full, very healthy life (until last year), Catherine passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 1:45 pm at Baylor Garland Hospital due to the rupture of an aortic aneurysm. She was 86 years young! Her work on this earth is done may she rest in peace!
