Hezzy was the greatest cat we have ever known. He gave back massages on command - how he learned this feat is a mystery. Whenever my back was sore, I'd call "Come here, Hez! Give me a back rub!" and Hez would dutifully rush over and start rubbing my back with his tiny paws. Hezzy began to have trouble breathing in the summer of 1997 but, after a few vet visits and medication, he seemed to be fine again. In the early morning hours of August 31st, my family and I were glued to the TV, watching the unfolding news of Princess Diana's death. At the same time, I noticed that Hez was suddenly unable to breathe. I picked him up and wrapped him in my arms ... and gently rubbed his back. But he was gone. I miss the dear fellow terribly and a little piece of my heart went with him ... and my back has never been the same.
