Illustrator. Al Plastino, born Alfred John Plastino, was one of the most prolific comic book artists who drew Superman, Batman, the Legion of Super-Heroes, Supergirl and many others. His career spanned several decades, beginning with the "Golden Age" of comic books of the 1940s and lasted well into the 1980s. After he retired, Plastino kept active by attending conventions and accepting commissions for artwork. His most notable work of art were the pages he drew for the 1964 story, "Superman's Mission For President Kennedy," which now is part of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library collection following some controversy. Plastino is survived by wife Annmarie; son Fred; daughters Janice Iapaolo, Arlene Podlesny and MaryAnn Plastino-Charles; and six grandchildren.
