Joseph Cherry, a Civil War veteran lived on West State Street and slipped on the icy pavement, breaking a thigh bone which led to his death. His funeral took place at his daughter M.E. Woodring home. Rev. Dr. Mullenix officated. At the age of 3 he came to Columbus and lived in Franklin and Pickaway counties since. He was a carpenter by trade, he was prominent in the construction of some of the most important buidlings in the city, the Odd Fellows' Temple on High street and the old Asylum for Imbecile Youth. His cause of death is listed as old age and broken leg. Undertaker was Schoedinger and his interment was February 25, 1886. His interment number if 13189.
