Football coach and gynecologist. Henry Williams was the first full-time salaried coach of the Minnesota Gophers football team. He had a record of 136 wins, 33 losses, and 11 ties from 1900 to 1921. Williams had played football at Yale University and was also a champion hurdler on Yale's track team. At Minnesota, he was allowed to continue practicing medicine at the same time he coached the football team. Williams Arena, home of the Gophers basketball teams, is named after Williams.
