American Folk Hero, Abraham Czadwicz was born to Isaac and Elke (later Anna) Czadwicz on or about March 26, 1898 in Brainsk, a small town in the Grodne province along what was then the Russian-Polish border. The family adopted the name of Chadwick shortly after their arrival in the United States. Abe was a devoted Brooklyn Dodger fan who was employed by the New York Giants as an electrician at the Polo Grounds. Abe installed the buzzer system in the Giant's centerfield clubhouse (Manager Leo Durocher's office), the right field bullpen and first base dugout, that was used to relay signs stolen from the visiting team's catcher to the Giant batters. This helped the Giants win 37 of their last 44 games to finish the 1951 regular season in a tie with the Dodgers and force a three game playoff for the National League pennant. In the bottom of the 9th inning of game 3, at 3:58pm, October 3, 1951, Bobby Thomson hit a 3 run homer into section 35 of the left field seats winning the pennant for the Giants. Considering the circumstances of the Giants "miracle" comeback from a 13 game deficient in late August, this is considered the most famous home run in baseball history.

Cause of death: stomach cancer
