Gullett and Allee Fell Out Over a Partnership Settlement
Victoria, Tex., Aug. 18,-News was received here this afternoon of a fatal shooting scrape on Gullett's ranch, near Hines Bay, in Refugio county. The participants were Alanzo R. Allee and Col. N.C. Gullett, both prominent men in this county.
The men were partners in the stock business and were having a settlement about 9 o'clock this morning, when they became involved in a difficulty with the result as given above, death resulting from a gunshot wound.
The deceased was a very prominent man about 42 years of age. He was born in DeWitt county and was sheriff of Goliad county for eight years, resigning last year. His brother, Alfred Allee, was killed about thirteen months ago by City Marshall Barthelo, at Laredo.
The deceased was a Knight Templar, member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. He was a single man and quite well to do.
His remains will probably be interred at Runge besides those of his brother.
The killing has excited a good deal of interest, but as it is nearly forty miles to the scene of the trouble, but little of the details can be learned.
