Robert Hidde de JONGE OUDRAAT was born in The HAGUE-HOLLAND on the Lane Copes van Cattenburg 50, December 3th.-1921.

From 1925 untill 1927 He lived with His Family in the Cities Batavia and Bandoeng in the Dutch East-Indies.

He moved in the year 1942 to SWITSERLAND and studied at the Beatrix College in Glion near Montreux.

Holland was occupied by the GERMANS in that time and He decided to travel to ENGLAND,via Genevè in Switserland to France.

After many adventures in also by the Germans occupied part of France He escapted and walking through the Mountains between France and Spain He arrived in a small Village called Selva del Mar.

From Madrid in Spain,He travelled to Lisboa in Portugal.

June 2nd-1943 He travelled with a KLM Flight to England.

Short after arriving in England He served as Sailor 2nd.Class on Northrow 4,Headquarters of the Dutch Royal Navy.His First job there was Elevator Boy in the Admiral's Elevator.He met a Friend who was visiting the Headquarters and He told Him to come in the Admiral's Elevator to bring him in the Higher Offices.At that moment an Admiral,stepped into the Elevator and said "Who's that" and at the answer,I am a young Sailor,the Admiral said who gives you the right to use MY Elevator!!That was the END as Elevator Boy for Bobsje !His next Job was serving Coffee and Tea.In June 1943 arrived in Harbourtown DOVER,starting a Navy Career on the Watchship HMS.Wasp.Bobsje served on MTB 204.April 20th.-1944 departure to the USA with the HMS.Pasteur.After arriving in the States transferred to Camp Lejeune,of the USMC in North Carolina,"Court Bay House" the Barracks of the Royal Dutch Marines.After 3 weeks send to Quantico in Virginia at the Officer Candidate School Class number 4.
August 1th.1944 He was promoted to Second Lieutenant Royal Dutch Marines.At the end of WW2 back to Holland with a Plain to the Dutch Navy Airport"Valkenburg".

This is just a part of the Life as Officer in the Royal Dutch Marine Corps.

He served His Country 4 years in the Dutch East-Indies (now Indonesia),in DUTCH New-GUINEE and in the Dutch West-Indies.

He was the Proud Bearer of the following decorations:

Kruis van Verdienste - (Cross of Merit).

Oorlogsherinnerings Kruis with 1 gesp.(War Memory Cross with 1 Clip).

Ereteken voor Orde en Vrede met 4 Gespen.(Medal of Honour for Peace and Order with 4 Clips).

Nieuw Guinea Herinnerings Kruis met Gesp.(New GUINEE Memory Cross with 1 Clip).

Britse Frontline Medaille.(British Front Line Medal).

Kruis voor langdurige Dienst als Officier.(Cross for longtime Service as Officer).

Retired as Major Royal Dutch Marines in the year 1966.

Bobsje started in Civil Life as Public Relations Officer of the Royal Gist and Spiritus Factory in DELFT January 1th.-1967 untill June 1972.

From September 1972 untill January 1987 He worked at the International Patent Office and than finally Retired !

He died June 2nd.-2003 and was Cremated in the Crematory"Ockenburgh" in His Hometown The HAGUE-HOLLAND .
