Hubert CLAUS started his career in the ROYAL DUTCH MARINE CORPS April 6th. 1937.
In the year 1940 he was promoted to Marine 1th Class.
He died February 27th.1942 when he served His Country and Marinecorps on HMS.Cruiser" DE RUYTER",The Flagship of the Combined Striking Force.
His ship sunk after 1 1/2 Hour, after being hit by a torpedo at 11.34 PM from the Japanese Heavy Cruiser " Haguro ".
The position at Sea was 06 o 11' SOUTH - 112 o 08' EAST.
In the Navyhistory this was called the
Battle on the Java Sea - Street Bandung ( Indonesia).
In total 906 Dutch Sailors and Marines lost their lives that night.
