Janus worked his entire career as a sales manager for Waldborg and Morris Moskowitz Handbags. He served with the American Combat Infantry Division 164 Headquarters Company in the South Pacific in World War II as a tech sergeant radio operator. Janus was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the following medals; American Campaign.
Asiatic Pacific Campaign with 3 bronze battle stars, One Arrow Beach Head, World War II Victory, Army of occupation Japan, Philippine Liberation with 2 bronze battle stars, Philippine Presidential unit citation with 2 bronze battle stars and the bronze star medal.
Janus enjoyed a very active life, especially in Holiday City West where he produced the first two Variety Shows ever and brought over 50 professional shows called "Fun Sunday" to the community. In addition, Janus helped run dances, was Master of Ceremonies for the "Calendar Girls" chorus line, plus a special children's show. Janus was a member of the men's club, bocce club, the Holiday City West Settler's Bowling Group, and volunteered over 500 hours at Community Medical Center Hospital.
Janus enjoyed every one of his activities because he loved living in Holiday City West and he loved people. Janus would brighten up a room with his bright smile, witty jokes, and passion for life. He is survived by his wife, Christine, sister, Marie Tizio, daughter, Lynda Baldwin, grandsons, Kevin and Christopher Baldwin, in-laws, Bart Tizio, John Baldwin, Lauren Baldwin, and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Mr. "Fun Sunday" on Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday 10:30 am at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River. Entombment will follow to Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
