Ruth Harper Acton, 85, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville, Ala. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. Saturday till the 11 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow in Elliottsville Cemetery in Alabaster, Ala. Rev. Tom Hammett will officiate. Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo, Ala. is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Acton was a Shelby County, Ala. native. She taught school at Chelsea Elementary School until retirement.
She is survived by her 9 children, Ellen Ruth Smith (Bobby), Roddy Cahoon (Frankie) Ken Acton (Janiece), Beth Acton, Gene Acton (Lil), Ty Acton (Martha), Wade Acton (Jennie), Don Acton (Mary), and Larry Acton (Rose); sister, Ruby Nell Kendrick of Hooker, Ala.; brother, Tom Harper of Birmingham, Ala.;41 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Acton's grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
