Born in London to George Ernest Lionel and Philippa Margaret Bevans, his Broadway stage credits included "The Money Maker" (1914), "Taking Chances" (1914), "Cock o' the Roost" (1924), "Revelry" (1927), "Napoleon" (1928) and "Wings Over Europe" (1928). Directorial credits included "Absent Father" (1932), "The Good Fairy" (1932) and "The Best People" (1933). Moving to Hollywood, he worked as an uncredited dialogue director for such films as "Danger: Love At Work" (1937), "Mr. Moto's Gamble" (1938), "Stanley and Livingstone" (1939), "The Black Swan" (1942) and "The Song of Bernadette" (1943). He also worked as stage manager for the Theatre Guild in Los Angeles and operated an actors school. He was survived by his wife and daughter.
