Playwright, screenwriter and novelist. Born as Laszlo Bush-Fekete in Kecskemet, Hungary, to Josef Bush-Fekete and Regina Goldschmidt. He studied architecture at Polytechnicum in Budapest and worked as a newspaperman prior to his theatre career. He wrote plays in Hungarian, German and American language. He married Mary (Marie) Fagras, also a playwright under the name Mary Helen Fay, on June 20, 1924. Together they wrote the plays "Embezzled Heaven" (1944), "The Big Two" (1947) and "Faithfully Yours" (1951). His 1939 play, "Ladies and Gentlemen" was adapted by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur. Moving to Hollywood, his screenwriting credits include "Ladies in Love" (Fox, 1936), "The Baroness and the Butler" (Fox, 1938), "Appointment for Love" (Universal, 1941), "Heaven Can Wait" (Fox, 1943), "Casbah" (Universal, 1948) and "The Girl Next Door" (Fox, 1953). He also wrote articles for Life Magazine and published a novel, "Ladies in Love."
