German King and Roman Emperor, last ruler of the Salian dynasty. He was the youngest of the three sons of Heinrich IV and Bertha of Savoy. His elder brother Konrad had been crowned king in 1087, but later stood up against their father and was disowned and his royalty and inheritance were revoked. Henry IV named the younger Henry his successor and had him crowned in 1098.
