Bill served in Royal Air Force in Germany during the early 1950's. His career as a professional golfer began in Oxford, England, then on to Vienna, Austria; Vancouver, BC; Windsor, Ontario; Detroit, and finally Bloomfield Hills. Bill continued playing golf throughout his lifetime and particularly enjoyed his final season at the Rogers City Country Club. He graciously gave golf lessons (free of charge) to anyone who asked (and sometimes even if they didn't).
Bill is survived by his wife of 16 years, Elaine Heidemann-Allan; eight children, Ian Allan, David Allan, Elizabeth (Tim) Mulligan, Scott (Erin), Allan, Hugh Allan, Heidi Marie Folsom, Ingrid (Koen) Van Cleemput, and Hans Mayer; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Corbet, Shea Allan, Fiodor Allan Kessler, Kieran Allan, Emma Allan, Walden Wagner, Kurt Folsom, and Steffi Folsom; four great grandchildren, Alexandra Allan, Ellie Allan, Cathy (W.J.) Chittick, and Hugh (Nora) Allan. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jacqueline Allan; and his former wife, Loretta F. (Lori) Allan.
Inurnment will take place at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston next to Lori. Arrangements are in care of the Beck Funeral Home. No public Services are planned.
