Samuel Babich died Sunday, April 6, 2007 at his home at Kingston Residence after a long illness. He was born in Elyria, Ohio on August 16, 1919 the son of the late Manuel and Leah Babich. Sam was the sixth child of eleven and he graduated from Elyria High School in 1937. Sam married his wife Libby on October 13, 1942 in Lorain, Ohio. Three days later Sam was shipped out for his World War II US Army service overseas in Persia. He wrote Libby five days a week for his entire tour.

Sam & Libby moved to Marion, Ohio in 1947 and went into the retail clothing business. They were owners of Guys & Dolls in Marion, The Treasure House in Delaware, Ohio, and the Treasure Chest in Bucyrus, Ohio, until their retirement.

Sam served his community including terms as President of Temple Israel, President of the B'nai B'rith, President of Marion Noon Lions Club, Neighborhood Commissioner for the Boy Scouts, and President of the Marion county Mental Health Board (now called ADAMH.)

Sam is survived by his wife Libby, his son Larry and daughter-in-law Sara Logsdon Babich in Marion whose children are Ben, a Harding High junior and Lauren, a Columbus State freshman. Sam & Libby's daughter Marna Kacenjar and her husband Allen live in Seven Hills, Ohio. Their children are Laura, an attorney in Chicago, Karen, a high school junior in Parma, Ohio and Allen Jr, an attorney who lives in Avon, Ohio with his wife Kelly and their children, Sam & Libby's great-grandchildren, Connor and Julia. He is also survived by his brother Solomon and wife Rena of Fort Myers, Florida and sister Diane Wolf of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Harry, Isadore, David, and Robert; and sisters Fannie, Ida, Becky, and Dorothy.
