On May 6, 1950, in Jerseyville, she married Keith Akers.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Wannetta McBride of Jerseyville; a son, Leonard Akers of Jerseyville; three grandchildren; two brothers, George Talley of Fieldon and Charles Talley of Jerseyville; and seven sisters, Eileen Moore of Granite City, Armeda Dunham of McClusky, Lola Mae Dunham and Beatrice Ebker, both of Jerseyville, Frances Crumley and Delores Stone, both of Alton, and Wilma Griffin of Washington. Preceding her in death were a son, Edward Akers; and a sister, Marvell Brooks.

The body was cremated. There is a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Open Door Fellowship Church in Jerseyville with the Rev. Wilbur Cain officiating. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association. Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home of Jerseyville is handling arrangements.
