Leona Allen, 88 year old resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died July 29, 2017 at Earlene Howard Hospice Home in Springdale, Arkansas. Born September 13, 1928 in Decatur, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Clarence Lee Amos, Sr. and Lovie Mae McConniel Amos.

Leona worked as a welder at Swan Island Shipyards near Portland, Oregon in 1944 and 1945. She was also a telephone operator at Camp Crowder, Missouri, when it was a prisoner of war camp with German prisoners in late 1945. Leona worked at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska from 1955 to 1956, where she married Airman Victor Ralph Allen in Anchorage on May 17, 1955. Later, they were stationed at Boling Air Base in Washington D.C., and she worked at the Pentagon. She liked to travel and had been in all 50 states and 16 countries. Leona was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 in Siloam Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Allen; her parents, Clarence Amos, Sr. and Lovie McConniel Amos; and three sisters, Mary Griffin, Leora Stone, and Evelyn Amos.

She is survived by one son, Robert Wayne Allen and fiancée, Pam McDonald of Siloam Springs; four grandchildren, Crystal Brown and fiancée, Stephan Ratliff of Lowell, Arkansas, Derrick Wayne Allen and fiancée, Mary Kough of Gentry, Arkansas, Cassidy Warner and wife Kandy of Barnesville, Minnesota, and Sierra Carter and fiancée Bub Crockford of West Fargo, North Dakota; three great grandchildren, Kowen Allen, Chloe Dockter, and Sophelia Crockford; and one brother, Clarence Amos and wife Donna of Decatur, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
