This is my Aunt Ruth, Mama's older sister. As a young woman she was a beauty queen in her hometown of South Norfolk. She was married twice; her first marriage was to Harry Mitchell, and her second marriage was to Harvey Liverman. She had two sons, Johnny Carroll the eldest was born during her marriage to Harry Mitchell, and Eugene Ray was born during her marriage to Harvey Liverman. Aunt Ruth worked most of her life in doctor's offices as office manager, and she worked the last few years of her life at home as a medical records transcriptionist. She loved cats and at the time of her passing had a much-loved white Himalayan named P.A., who went to live with my mom. She passed away at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia, after a brief but intense illness. While I didn't have as close a relationship with my Aunt Ruth as I would have liked, I will always remember her pet name for me, Sweetiepuss. After her passing, she was cremated and was buried in the same plot as her mother, my Grandmama. I love you and miss you, Aunt Ruth!!
