She married Ezekiel Virgil Burgess in 1907 in Humboldt Co., Ca. They had one son in Humboldt Co., Ca, Marvin V. Burgess, born Feb 26, 1910. Ezekiel was born in Humboldt Co., Ca and died before Eva, leaving her a widow.

MRS. EVA RUTH BURGESS IS CALLED TO DEATH
Mrs. Eva Ruth Burgess, daughter of Mrs. E.A Dean of Petaluma, died at her mothers home. She was only 27 years of age, and had been a noble and self-sacrificing worker for others for a number of years. She was a trained nurse and gave untiringly of her strength when caring for others.
Mrs. Burgess was a native of Mendocino County. She was married in 1902 and a child blessed the union. In 1912 her husband was crushed beneath a log while operating a donkey engine in the woods. She took up nursing and graduated from Fabiola Hospital in Oakland.
Hilder Dean, father of the deceased died at Loleta, Humboldt County, 14 years ago.
The remains were brought to this city yesterday and will be buried here. Mr. and Mrs. Dean came to this city and will stay with friends. Mrs. Mathisen and son Henry of Mark West were with the family during the last illness and will care for Mrs. Dean. The family have many friends here.
