Velma was born July 20, 1922 in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of the late Lewis and Julia C. (Grainger) Johns. She had resided in the Millington area most of her life. Velma married Richard Albert in 1955. He preceded her in death in October of 2002.
She was employed with United Plastics in Vassar for 16 years and had served as a committee person with AIW-AFL/CIO. Velma was also a member of the Vassar Eagles. She enjoyed painting, crafts, woodworking, sewing and crocheting.
Surviving are sons, Richard (Elaine) Albert of Aiken, S.C.; Mike (Vickie) Albert of Millington; stepson, Roy (Linda) Albert of Jackson, Mich.; six grandchildren and four great- grandchildren; brother, Dale Johns.
