Franklin C. Anderson, 88, of Atkinson died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson. The Rev. Mike McBride will officiate. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Atkinson Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund or Atkinson Congregational Church.

Franklin was born on Aug. 11, 1918, in Burns Township, rural Cambridge, the son of Carl and Irene Ericson Anderson. He married Jean MacKenzie on Feb. 10, 1940, in Davenport.

He was a lifetime farmer, farming north of Bishop Hill for 25 years and then later 19 years in rural Annawan, retiring in 1983. Franklin was a member of Atkinson Congregational Church, Atkinson Kiwanis Club and a 60-year member of the Henry County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed working on clocks and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; two daughters and spouses, Judy and Grant Hankins, Kewanee, Bonnie and Dave VanDeVelde, Atkinson; one son and spouse, Tom and Theresa Anderson, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Katherine Benson, Geneseo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jeffery Hankins; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Reilly; and a sister, Evelyn Detwyler.
