Jimmy D. Collins, 51, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at his home in Garden City. Garnand Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Jimmy D. Collins, 51, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at his home in Garden City.

He was born Aug. 17, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Dale and Norma Humphrey Collins. The family lived in Texas and later moved to Nebraska.

A Garden City resident since the mid-1980s, Mr. Collins worked for several years as a sales clerk at the Quick Shop and Mira Star, both in Garden City. He enjoyed fishing, his computer and watching wrestling.

Survivors include his companion, Connie Bonwell of Garden City; two brothers, Donnie Collins of Fort Worth, and Marlin Collins of Albion, Pa.; and two sisters, Marilyn Jefferies of Palo Pinto, Texas, and Jeanne McClendon of Gordonville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronnie Collins; and a sister, Nonie Hamm.

A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, with the Rev. David Bell officiating. A private family burial took place at a later date.

There was no visitation. Condolences may be sent at [email protected]. Memorials to the Jimmy D. Collins Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
