Mrs. Hildur Aasheim 1888-1983
Funeral services for Mrs. Hildur Aasheim, 95, Humboldt, are being held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Bode, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Tuesday morning at the Humboldt Care Center North. Schellhammer Funeral Home of West Bend is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are step-children: Kenneth Aasheim, Humboldt; Maurice Aasheim, Humboldt; Mrs. Norton (Lorna) Shelver, Concrete, Wash.; Earl Aasheim, Enderlin, N.D.; 11 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and sister Mrs. Borghild Lovell, Normanna, Texas.
Hildur Mehus was born in Mehus, Nordland, Norway, and moved with her family to Normanna, Texas in 1902 and then to Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada, and then back to Texas, where she graduated from Clifton Lutheran College.
She married Einar Orting, a minister in the Galveston Seaman Mission, in 1913. He died in 1914. Mrs. Orting then taught school in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. She married Andrew Aasheim in 1920 and the couple settled in Iowa before living in the states of Florida, North Dakota, Minnesota and Texas. Mr. Aasheim died in 1968. Mrs. Aasheim continued to live in Beeville, Texas.
Due to health problems, she moved to the North Care Center in Humboldt in 1972.
Mrs. Aasheim helped organize and was a charter member of a Mission Church in Clermont, Fla.
