Milton Louis Wend was the second child and first son born to Emil Louis and Wilhelmina Wend. He was a good student in school and learned to play the piano and violin. Milton attended the University of Notre Dame for a year but was forced to end his college education due to the Depression.

He served in the Navy during the Second World War protecting cargo convoys in the Atlantic and Pacific. At home, he server on the local school board and a village councilman. Milton was always trying new things and made champagne, beer and ice cream at different times. He was a constant reader, wrote poetry and enjoyed drawing and painting pictures. He also played the piano and violin. Milton worked in the family business and kept the financial books. He was a reserved and private person, loyal and helpful to friends and family.
