Cyntha was the daughter of James Stanfield and Lucinda Broyles Stanfield. She grew up on a farm and married Joseph Uriah Collins around July 1870. They had one child, Joseph Collins. Cyntha lost her husband on July 21, 1871.

On July 10, 1875, Cyntha married Archibald Lawson, a farmer. Together they had at least five children.

Cyntha is buried near her daughter, Laura Belle Lawson Hatmaker.
