Kathleen Marie Achatz, 53, of East China, entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. She was born in St. Clair on April 15, 1955, a daughter to the late, Charles R. and Helen Marie (May) Patrick.

Following the passing of her husband, Bernard Denney, she married Frederick Joseph Achatz on September 25, 2004.

Kathleen was a home healthcare provider for many people over the years and made their lives comfortable in their later years.

She sang with Seaway Sound Chorus and Shoreline Sound Chorus of the Sweet Adelines for many years.

She enjoyed going to the cabin "up north" with her husband, Fred, and she also enjoyed playing computer poker and casinos.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Fred; sisters, Mary A. Patrick of Marine City and Nancy A. (Ben) Gaglio of Warren; brothers, Richard (Kathy #2) Patrick of East China and John M. (Mary M.) Patrick of Macomb Twp.; stepchildren, Michelle Denney of Port Huron and Katelyn and John Achatz of East China; grandchildren, Tyler and Andrew Denney of Port Huron; her dog, Data, who was her loving companion for the last 17 years; Uncle James (Donna) May of Algonac; and nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Denney, and her parents.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady on the River Parish's Holy Cross Catholic Church, Marine City, with the Reverend James F. Lopez presiding.

Urn interment will take place at a later date.

Kathleen's family will welcome visitors in Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City, on Thursday 5-8 p.m. and Friday 4-8 p.m. and in the church on Saturday 10:30 - 11 a.m. Scripture Service will be in the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to "Carolyn's Place" at Safe Horizons, Port Huron or to the "wishes of the family."
